Dressing a big bust

 DRESSING A BIG BUST

For some, having a big bust is a big deal while to others, it’s no deal at all. But, whichever category you belong to, don’t sweat it as we’ve got something really exciting for you.

Do you want to know? Dig right into the 10 ways of dressing a big bust. Enjoy!

(for small busts, read through to find the cheering news)

1. Wear a well-fitting bra

A well-fitting bra offers full-breast coverage and gives your chest shape without adding to its size. Avoid undersized and oversized bras. Also, avoid padded bras.

Other alternatives such as the corset-like boning added to some garments for extra support, or even better, built-in bras.

2. Wear shirts with darts

shirts with darts give your bust space and will perfectly fit at the waist. Princess seams are a tailoring feature that adds shape and curve to the bust area of a dress.

They allow the clothing to closely follow the shape of a woman's body and this always comes out beautiful. You can talk to your seamstress about this.

3. Wear dresses that emphasize your waistline

The best dress styles for big busts include: wrap dresses, fit and flare shapes, peplums, and neat A-line styles. Short hemlines can be a plus since they pull the eyes down to the legs and away from the chest area.

Also, wearing the right belt can help emphasize your waist. Watch out for too-wide styles which can have the opposite effect; erasing your waistline and overemphasizing the bust.

4. Clothes with fitted upper-arm

A fitted upper arm helps reduce the illusion that you are bigger than you are. Even if you don't love your arms, choosing fitted over very billowing sleeves will reduce the illusion that you are bigger than you are.

Want a jazzy arm detail? Then choose one on the cuff. Look for sleeves that won’t draw attention to your chest and focus on tops with long sleeves that flare below the elbow.

5. Choose wider straps over tiny or spaghetti straps

This is an optical trick. The wider the strap, the smaller your breast appears visually. Try finding sleeveless with wider straps—spaghetti straps can make your shoulders and chest appear much larger.

6. Suitable necklines

V necks, scoop necks, square necks, and sweetheart necklines are good for you. They don't bulk you up with masses of fabric over your boobs. Plus, they create an elegant frame for your bust.

V-necks are often the most flattering on busty women because they lengthen the silhouette. Scoop necklines are also a good look for big breasts. Avoid polo, crew, and cowl, which tend to draw attention to the bust.

7. Longer/less detailed tops

Try to find simple lines and silhouettes. Details like ruffles, frills, breast pockets, and ruched fabric will make your breasts seem larger.

Focus on tops with clean lines that draw attention away from your bust. Small prints are good options too, they confound the eye by making it harder to focus on one point.

8. Add a blazer/ jacket

Throw on a blazer or jacket over your outfit. Don’t worry about buttoning your blazer up, which can lead to gaping and pulling.

9. Draw attention to your legs with high heels

A pair of statement heels can make your legs look longer, diverting eyes from your chest. Shoes that are sparkly or brightly colored will attract even more attention.

If heels aren’t your preference, split-front booties offer another way to visually elongate your legs with footwear.

10. Avoid bulky/oversized scarf

Bulky and oversized scarves are a no-no. Blanket scarves or scarves knitted from chunky yarn serve to add extra volume to your bust.

There you have it, 10 whopping fashion ideas for you to dress a big bust. So, no excuse for dressing in ways that would make you appear twice as bustier than you already are.

However, since we didn’t get the chance to talk about smaller busts, here’s some cheering news: if you have a smaller bust, chances are they’d become bigger during lactation (breastfeeding). Well, watch out for our subsequent posts as we would be discussing how to dress small busts soon. Till then
