Dressing tips for pregnant women

 Fashion vibes for pregnant women

Dear preggy one,

Inspired by one of my clients who recently got pregnant, I decided to write you these tips because I found so many things helpful while I styled and made the clothes she would wear till she gives birth. I thought it best to share it with you. Enjoy!

Two things you should note;

First, your waistline grows in a matter of months during pregnancy So, ensure you buy clothes that do not fit the current shape of the body. Always go for loose clothing in light fabrics.

Second, wear clothes that can be washed often as morning sickness and sweating will get them dirty in no time.

Now let's talk about some style inspirations that would serve you greatly.

1. Unbuttoned coats and Blazers for the win

A tailored blazer can make your favorite jeans and T-shirt look more palatable. Wear the jacket open for maximum comfort or opt for an oversized cut.

2. Go for simple slip dresses

 They are lightweight, loose, and long, and using fabric like satin or velvet will give a luxurious feel to your look.

3. Oversized clothing

Oversized dresses are a fashion trend and surely an elaborate talk for another day. If you rock them well, you will surely enjoy being in them.

From oversized shirting to cashmere sweaters, hoodies, cardigans, quality T-shirts and fashionable boubou styles are a great way to avoid buying maternity wear because you will always love their loose fits. Lucky for you, Hubby's clothes can serve this purpose so don't dull on them.

4. Empire, wrap overlap, and shift styles

This will give your body shape and definition from under your bust and allow fabric to drape loosely over your bump.

Choose a dress in one solid color for a slimming look. Empire-waist tops are also a great idea.

Here are examples below;

Wrap dresses and overlap dresses work too, just tie them a little higher up and be sure to choose a length that accommodates your growing belly.

Go for styles with fun details on your top half, like ruffles, interesting and exaggerated necklines, and sleeves. Since there is a limit to the design that can be achieved around your stomach and waist area, transfer these designs to other parts instead. So, your clothing won't look too boring.

Choose fabrics carefully

Soft, stretchy, and comfortable fabrics will serve you well as they will grow as you do. Fabrics, like lycra, will fit you in all the right places. Cotton is another great option, as it allows your skin to breathe. Stretchy vests, tunic-style vests, and camisoles.

As we always emphasize, your whole look determines how to put together you look. Asides from your clothing, work on your whole look too. Get your hair done, get your fingers painted or trimmed, and properly taken care of while staying clean and hydrated at all times.

To all our pregnant folks reading this, we wish you a safe delivery in advance!

Sincerely,

Crownex empire
